NBC U Releases 'NBC Direct' In Beta, Stumping Computers Everywhere - Silicon Alley Insider

Dear NBC and Vivi Zigler (EVP of digital),

Why is this so hard for you to get? You seem to be throwing yourselves at every angle to try to get this to work with no luck in sight.  You had a great deal with itunes (to the tune of $15M in rev a year) and you blew it.

Think about that for a second.  Thats $1,250,000 per month.  Lets convert that to ads because that is how you’re trying to make the money off of NBC Direct, Hulu, and others, right? Ok, so lets say that NBC gets $25 per 1000 ads served which is reasonable.  That means serving up roughly 50M ads PER MONTH.  Even for the best sites I’m sure that these numbers are out of line.

I just don’t get why you would walk away from iTunes and all that it was offering you in hopes of making it better.  You could have kept that money coming in while trying to develop these platfoms.  It just seems to simple for you to have made it this hard.
